I tried several other methods to fix..almost gave up after taking to a shop and they couldnt' figure out how to fix it. after rebooting following step 3 did a Search for update and after 10-15 min found 200+ updated and it works. I deleted the file and once again could download. It is important that you read the article first because I did not do some things that were suggested in the article such as run in safe mode and did some have a peek here

I have been working on my Windows Update on and off for months now…the sleepless nights, the frustration, the aggravation, etc. Thank you so very much. had to do fresh install windows several times but failed to update… your guide was excellent and most of all simple.. I just formatted (because I am overly frustrated with Windows 10) and did a fresh installation of Windows 7 and run into problems with Windows Update.

The following process worked for me on a client's extremely stubborn HP DV6 reloaded via factory image w/SP1 that didn't respond well to the other solutions I tried (although they are this fixed the issue i was having for over a week! As Administrator, to into Services, find Windows Update and Stop the service, then install the update.
