I tried defragging on an XP machine once and it kept re-starting the defrag because there was a screen saver set to run after ten minutes or so. It was in WinME last time it actually could do shit, which is why I always make sure I disable that piece of shit and install Auslogics Disk Defrag, a completely When I click on "View Report", it doesn't show any files that have fragments. The disk is too full (you need at least 15% free space, sometimes 20%). If the chkdsk /r command cannot complete successfully....it's probably time to check the functional status of the drive via a hard drive diagnostic, IMO.
There may be a performance setting in the bios setup you have...make sure it's cranked up to max. This is common when there's not enough empty space SuperAntiSpyware ius something I'd drop ..... There is another great FREE application that you can try called DEFRAGGLER.
